WILLIAM P. "BILL" COLLINS
Bill Collins, 49, Overland Park, passed away May 18, 2010. A visitation/tribute will be held from 1-3 p.m., Saturday, May 22, 2010 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kansas. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Bill was a great friend, and loving father, with an incredible laugh and a style that was uniquely his own. He will be missed by his family, children, and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his father, Tom. Survivors include his wife, Rebecca (Becky) Hawes Collins; children, Casey, Cody, Tommy, and step-daughter, Ellie; mother and step-father, Sandi and Johnnie Henson; sisters, Kim O'Dell and Kari Watson; and one brother, Dave Collins. In memory of Bill Collins, a childhood friend. In grade school, we were always good friends. I remember that I would go to his birthday party and he would come to mine, year after year. As we grew older, life happens and we had other friends, but still were close.We worked in the radio business at different Kansas City stations, but he would always send me leads and try to help me out. He always had a smile, a quick wit. and a story to go with it. He was the guy in the group that you wanted to know. Billy, you will be missed.

I am very sorry to hear of Bill's passing. I remember being on both football and basketball teams with Bill in Junior High - Nallwood. He was always fun loving and I enjoyed being around him. I recall in high school everything for Bill revolved around cars. While we have not kept in touch he will be missed. RIP.

How unfortunate. we were just getting to send email's to each other thru the site here & catch up. We played soccer together back in Junior high school days. He was a fun kids, great sense of humor & he help growing up more fun & enjoyable.

Billy, you were a good friend. It seemed no matter how long between seeing each other, you would always act like we'd just seen each other the day before.
I also can believe how tall Bill got. I don't remember him being that big in school and then the first time I saw him after high school, I was like 'holy sh-t'! :)

Bill, You were my best friend throughout school. We played and fought all through grade school. Our birthdays were one day apart. We dug holes in your back yard because you said your dad liked to play on hills. We rode to football practice with you on my shoulders because we only had one bike between the two of us that worked most of the time. We smoked cigarettes at the "Y" We partied together at the Ozarks. I lost touch with your 10 years ago or so. I can't beleive you're already gone. RIP Buddy!
