Karla Silberg

Killed by a drunk driver soon after 79. Maybe 1980, 81 or 82.

Karla got me my first job at Bag & Baggage. She was a real sweetheart taken way too early, I think of her often. We went to hebrew school together and since neither of us was into it much, we were fast friends and could enjoy camaraderie in not wanting to be there.

Rest in peace Karla. You will always be in my memories for we had a lot of fun cheerleading together! ~Darby

My funniest memory of Karla was when we went in Junior High to have our eyebrows wax...we laughed and cried so hard and Karla turned purple for several hours.
She was fun and we always had a good time. I was so sad to hear about her accident and have been so sorry for her families loss, she was too young!

I met Karla in grade school at Marsha Bagby, her family lived on the street behind mine. She was a great friend, I remember lots of good things and good times. I was so sad when she died. Life had hardly started yet. Hope her brother and parents have been okay.

I was sitting at my desk, with a few minutes to spare and decided to check out the SMS 79 website. Karla has a memorial fund set up at her synagogue, Kehilath Israel, which is still active as of 2014. Her parents may still be alive and able to provide more details.
